Like a lot of good things in life, it all started with a motorcycle. An obsession with motorcycles and motorcycle gear morphed into the launch of Joe Rocket in 1994, manufacturing quality motorcycle jackets. Joe Rocket’s “Phoenix” nylon jacket sold a hundred thousand pieces because the perforated, fully armored jacket was the first to provide serious hot weather protection and keep the rider cool. Then after sponsoring 17-year-old Nicky Hayden, Joe Rocket became etched in motorcycle racing culture. Joe Rocket went on to expand its motorcycle gear to include helmets, pants, luggage, boots, and gloves - all designed ahead of the curve of protective motorcycle apparel. The combination of true Waterproof protection with large zip-off panels revealing FreeAir Mesh makes the Alter-Ego 2.0 the most versatile pant on the market today. High quality overpants that are warm enough for 35-40deg weather when paired with thermals and jeans. There are enough vents and even a removable strip with mesh behind it that you won’t over heat in warmer weather. The downside is there are no pockets for hip pads. There’s a small triangular pad about the size of a tortilla chip built into them but it’s contribution is in form not function. Regardless, I’d buy them again ?This product is made well, and they fit nicely. We both live Joe Rocket products as they are stylish, practical, and have a lot of ventilation whole offering great support for falls.I bought these to accompany my joe rocket alter ego jacket. I could not find much of anything else that was in my price range that really takes the cake. The fit was perfect and overall, they look pretty good. I have noticed some quality control issues however. The interior waterproof liner is held in by buttons sewn onto the pants themselves that attach to loops that are sewn on to the waterproof liner. These loops can very easily break off. Even if you're just in a hurry to get them on or off you can run the risk of tearing the retention loops off. Another issue I have run in to is that the top button never wants to stay buttoned. Other than those two things, I haven't run into any issues with these pants that would be a total deal breaker. They're comfortable enough. The grey stripe part above the knee that wraps around the back of the pants to the other side is removable to improve airflow. The knee pad height has two levels of adjustment. They were already correct for me. These pants aren't super awesome, but I'd buy them again. My husband installed a new windshield on his bike and during a sharp 90 degree turn the screen somehow pinched his throttle cable causing the bike to instantly accelerate during the turn. He ended up having to lay the bike down but in his words, "my gear saved me." Minimal wear after sliding down pavement for about 30-50 feet. His only war wound was a quarter sized raspberry on his right elbow.this is my second pair of slip overs from joe rocket. I was VERY pleased with the first pair. but they really put a effort into improving the new gear. I am so very pleased with my new joe rocket slip overs. biker for ever.....steveSecond pair with the exact tear at the belt line… great pants but poor construction! Joe rocket must be skipping steps on quality control! I’ve worn this brand and style of pants for years and this is a new issue with these! Generally a zipper will break but after a long time!!They look good, I got the size recommended but they fit much higher than regular pants so they are a bit tight around the stomach. Thet fit great everywhere else. They seem durable but I'm still doing my best not to test the crash worthiness. I've only tried them in warm dry weather so I don't know about wet performance. They are pretty comfortable with shorts underneath. These are definitly a must . It had all the details I was looking for in regards to pants. Venting, opening at the bottom for easy removal without having to take shoes/ boots off, water proof, making them an all weather pant. I followed the sizing chart and it is spot on. I am 5'10" and 200 lbs, 36 waist, Solid athletic build, I got the XL Short , I like having a little extra room incase I wanted to put an under layer on.
